According to Jenifer Campbell, director of residential life, in a mass email, “A sprinkler was discharged in a McMahon apartment on the ninth floor. There was no fire, and the sprinkler was activated because of treatment being conducted by certified exterminators as part of a standard school protocol.”

Some M apartments from floors two through nine were affected.

“It just smelled like piss in here,” Molly Schroeder, FCLC ’17, of apartment 4M said.

Dylan Penza, FCLC ’17, of 6M said, “Our vent in our bathroom was just pouring water. Random areas of the room started leaking. The fans are drying the rooms as we speak. It smells really bad.”

About the maintenance crew that came in during the early morning on Sunday, Penza said, “They kind of just walked in our room, paced the place, looked around. It was kind of weird. They could have just told us why they were there and told us what was going on.”

Brendan O’Hare, FCLC ’17, of 8M said, “We got some water damage in the room.”

“Our apartment flooded, and there’s a pond in the middle of my bedroom,” Lian Dick, FCLC ’17, of 3M said.

Leslie Timoney,  associate director of campus operations at Lincoln Center, declined to comment.
